Virtual Learning Specialist
Biography: I grew up in the sleepy, little beach town of Ventura, CA. There I studied and went to CSU, Northridge earning my B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Art. During this time I also studied abroad exploring nine countries in Europe through an incredible program called Semester at Sea (offered by the University of Pittsburgh). After completing my undergrad, I decided to take some time off where I journeyed to Maui to I live for six months. There I enjoyed activities such as hiking, snorkeling, and surfing while creating lasting, meaningful friendships. Coming back to California, I continued my studies at A.P.U. where I earned my Multiple Subject Credential with a supplementary in Art, as well as my M.A. in Education.
Since then I have taught Guided Reading, Third grade at a progressive, project-based school which then led to the job that I am passionate about, teaching Multi Media Art (grades K-8). I have also worked with the non-profit organization ARTS (A Reason To Survive) teaching kids whose parents were deployed the joyful wonders of art. My classrooms have been positive discipline, student led, and idea driven. After having our first child, I decided to find a job that gave me both the opportunity to help raise our little girl and the little one that is on the way, as well as continue my love of teaching.
As currently the Virtual Learning Specialist for 10th and 12th graders, I love to help navigate new scholars and Learning Coaches through the new scope of online learning,
