Biography:
I have been an online English teacher with AAS since 2014 and have enjoyed the extra time and flexibility to help my scholars understand difficult concepts. I have taught public high school and middle school English in Los Angeles, Compton, and Azusa since 2004. During this time, I piloted numerous school-wide programs, coached volleyball, co-wrote the district curriculum guide for 8th grade English, and developed new curriculum to fit the needs of my scholars. I have also spent 3 years volunteering with non-profit organizations that provide individual tutoring and mentoring services in under-served areas. At AAS, I have enjoyed returning to a position where I have more time to help individual scholars succeed at their own pace. In addition to English, I am also interested in art, travel, nature, and science. I spend much of my time researching and reading about topics that interest me. I am a "constant learner" and enjoy collecting new ideas and information across every subject. I look forward to helping my 11th grade American Literature scholars develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills this year! Please contact me if you have questions or need help with your assignments.
